The Inaugural Golden Rule Award
Canon Bede Gerrard received the inaugural Gold Rule Award from the Oxford Council of Faiths at the Quaker Meeting House on Wednesday 9th April 2025.
The Chair, Canon Dr Charlotte Bannister-Parker said: “We are delighted to announce that Bede is the first person in Oxford to receive this award and be recognised for his services to inter-faith relations, dialogue and community cohesion by OxCoF. The Golden Rule simply means you “should treat others as you'd like to be treated” and it is a theme that runs through all our major religions”. Bede is an Ecumenical Canon of Christ Church Cathedral, the Chair of the Friendship Walk and the Founding Chair of OxCoF.
Mrs Marjorie Glasgow BEM, His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Oxfordshire, said “It is fitting that the Council of Faiths’ inaugural Golden Rule Award is given to Bede, recognising the outstanding community work in faith relations which Bede has undertaken across the city and the county."
