Week of Prayer for World Peace

11 - 18 October 2026

This is an annual interfaith event which takes place from each October, this year from 11-18 October 2026.

WPWP has been interfaith since its establishment in 1974. The first chair, the late Dean Edward Carpenter of Westminster Abbey said, “The peace of the world must be prayed for by the faiths of the world.”

It unites people from diverse backgrounds: of all faith communities or none to pray for global harmony; to learn and share. Each year a Prayer Resource is produced offering prayers and digital resources with a daily theme and representing multiple spiritual traditions. Along with Interfaith Alignment and the Iona Community, WPWP offers a daily online 'calendar' which is opened each day (like an Advent calendar) with a short video from a range of faith communities.

There is also a major contribution from young people. The resources are designed for personal and corporate use throughout the 52 weeks of the year and not purely the week of prayer.
